2013 is nearly over - but apparently it's not quite done yet (m/sport)
I've been mulling over an end of year piece of the last few days to recap on what a mixed and sad year 2013 has been for the world of motorsports. Allan Simonsen, Andrea Antonelli, Maria de Villota, Sean Edwards, Dick Trickle, Jason Leffler, Karl-Heinz Kalbfell and Mark Robinson all lost either on or off the track.
Add to that list Dario Franchitti who thankfully escaped his season ending crash with his life and decided to call it a day before taking a risk too far, and we've lost a frightening number from the sport this year. I was going to write a little about why the deaths of Sean Edwards and Karl-Heinz Kalbfell stunned me the most, however tonight the headlines are all about Michael Schumacher who is currently in a coma after a skiing accident on the slopes of Meribel, France.
I've never been a Schumacher fan, but that's just sport and now this is real-life.
Fingers crossed for a Kubica style recovery.
